Marble Blast Gold

Marble Blast Gold is the first game in the Marble Blast series, developed by GarageGames and Monster Studios. The player guides a marble called the Groovyball through a series of obstacle-filled levels against the clock, collecting power-ups and avoiding hazards to reach the finish pad.

The player controls the Groovyball — a marble capable of rolling in any direction — through each level’s course. The objective is to reach the finish pad before the timer expires. Along the way, players collect power-ups such as:

  • Super Speed — Temporarily increases marble velocity.
  • Super Jump — Allows the marble to leap over obstacles.
  • Gyrocopter — Slows the marble’s descent, enabling longer airtime.
  • Shock Absorber — Reduces damage from falls.
  • Super Bounce — Gives the marble extreme bounce on surfaces.
  • Tornado — Lifts the marble and nearby objects.
  • Time Travel — Adds seconds to the countdown timer.
  • Mega Marble — Enlarges the marble temporarily.

Each level has a Qualify Time the player must beat to complete it. A faster Gold Time is also set; beating it earns the player a gold trophy for that level.

Marble Blast Gold contains 100 levels across three difficulty tiers:

DifficultyLevels
Beginner24
Intermediate24
Advanced52

Marble Blast Gold was directed by Jeff Tunnell and Mark Frohnmayer, with level design by Kevin Ryan and Alex Swanson. The game runs on the Torque Game Engine, GarageGames’ proprietary engine also used in a range of other indie titles.

Development was handled jointly by GarageGames and Monster Studios.
